Shane’s ‘FaceTime’ is a song about wanting someone in the room, not on a screen. So the film lives in two places: Shane alone by the sea, waiting; Shane and the girl together in London, from golden hour into the night. The phone keeps turning up between them. Performance first — he sings it to the lens — and the couple’s scenes played for real rather than posed.
Two shoot days, three months apart. The first was one long London day in May: a park at eleven, Westfield in the afternoon, golden hour on Addison Avenue, Notting Hill at dusk, Primrose Hill after dark — a C200 and an R6, with the track playing on set so every take could be found in the song later. The second was an August day in Folkestone, on the beach and around a pink hut on the harbour, for the solo half. Cut and graded in Resolve; the film-frame shots are done in the grade, not with a filter.
A 2:52 music video, the hero loop of this site, and a run of vertical cuts for Shane’s Instagram — three of them above. Shot with a crew of one.
